Tales of Running Up the Stairs

This morning, while running back up the stairs for the second time to see if my curling iron was unplugged, I said to myself, "are you serious"...

Hello - my name is Sarah and I have a slight OCD problem!

I am in no way poking fun at this disorder - I am just simply saying that I have noticed some things lately, that if anyone else saw me do, they might think I was losing my mind.  The curling iron is only example #1 - I will check, no lie, 3-5 times to make sure my curling iron is unplugged EVERY MORNING.  I've done this when I'm only in the next room, I've been all the way down both flights of stairs a couple times, and I've even been in my car, out of the garage, down the street, only to have to turn around and go back.

Example #2 - Door Locks - I will come home from work lock the door behind me, go upstairs and about my evening, and before I go to sleep, I will look at least three times at the door to make sure it's locked.  This is honestly just smart if you ask me - I don't want to wake up to a stranger - but also, shouldn't one time be enough?

My phone on most days sits pretty close to me...and yes, I will click that home button about seven times within an hour to see if I have a message, email, tweet, etc.  I know darn good and well that I don't have anything...but can't help but look!  Don't tell Apple - this could be why my home button quit working in less than 6 months :(

What is even more scary than these little weird things I do is that I am 30 years old...this may mean that there is no hope for me.  Does anyone else ever think, oh gosh, I'm officially set in my own ways?  I'm there - set in my own ways...running up and down the stairs because of forgetfulness, flipping the door locks, and clicking on and off my phone...

What do you all do that makes feel like you're a weirdo? :)

  1. I do the EXACT SAME THING. The curling iron, the iron, the toaster, the coffee pot - you name it. I go back and check multiple times, even knowing they have auto-shut off. Drives my husband bonkers. I have left work and gone home to check before. Sad. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I know my dog is there, and I would die if something happened while I wasn't home.

  2. Don't worry, I do various things like this as well. LOL However I'm particular about someone moving things on my desk. My desk isn't exactly clean, but I know where everything is...and know if someone has touched it. :) I don't like when certain things are crooked (like picture frames). And lastly, I too check the coffee pot about 5 times to make sure it's off. :)

    1. Ok, I sorta do that too - my desk at work looks ridiculous (I've even noticed a few dust bunnies, shhh) and if even a cord was moved a bit, I would be able to tell you! Glad there's other people like me out there! :)
